Losing Focus: Losing Direction

We are getting lost and off track with all the noise and chaos.

It happens so slightly. A subtle slip off the compass line, and we are miles from the way we are meant to be on. Just a few degrees to the right or the left, and we are in unappointed terrain. The guiding trail path disappears in wilderness wanderings

.

Disorientation taunts and fuels doubt and discouragement.

"Where there is no VISION, the people PERISH." (Proverbs 29:18)

The ability to see clearly and accurately determines how we move forward.

The word for vision here is "chazon" from the root "chazah," which means an inner mental sight, a dream, or a revelation.

"Perish" is translated as "lack of restraint," "to let loose," or "to be uncovered or exposed."

Revelation gives focus and direction. It determines our destination when we keep our hearts and eyes fixed and unwavering.

Without it, people break loose; they become unrestrained and uncovered. Nakedness exposes vulnerability, and the enemy LOVES to meet us here.

Exposure is the sniper's perfect target line.

Unrestraint is like my Labrador running wildly in circles and bounding everywhere, jumping on anything and everything when she is off the leash. She has no sense of direction without guidance; she chases and grabs at whatever catches her darting eyes. She cannot focus because there are too many options and opportunities. She wants them all at the same time.

Our eyes are the guiding light for the path.

"The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness..." (Matthew 6:22)

A blue eye with the text: Vision determines your direction and destination.

Vision is like the leash. It pulls our head and leads our eyes into the right position.

Vision is connected to self-control and discipline. We think of restraints as limits and boundary walls, but true revelation from God is not meant to prevent growth and increase.

Light illuminates the unseen and allows us to navigate and distinguish details. It carries information, enhances our safety, and produces growth.

💡 Revelation is the pole that guides the plant upward into a healthy harvest

.

💡 It is the reins that prevent us from becoming lost in our misdirected agendas and distracted pursuits.

💡 It is the plumb line that holds us steady and parallel so we build in alignment.

You may see it as a constraint or deprivation, or you can see it as a freedom standard holding you accountable to your calling and purpose. Your eyes and perception will determine your destination.
