"The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works."

Psalm 145:9

There is a beautiful image connected to tender mercy here, which is linked to the womb: the life-giving and cherishing place of protection and nurture. It is such a contrasting picture to the magnificent splendour and awesome might announced earlier in the Psalm.

Mercy isn’t just an act or a feeling. It’s a tender way of living that reflects God’s heart.

God is good to all. His tenderness stretches out and over all his works.

The word translates as 'business and activities'. His authorship over our lives from our molecular formation to our last breath reveals the works of his hands and heart.

Mercy Work

Have you thought about what kind of work or business God is engaged in?

Mercy is the quiet work of heaven lived out through us on earth.

Maybe we find ourselves struggling with the work or responsibilities we have been assigned, but we are all called to work. It is part of being in His kingdom.

God is a worker. He has created all things and sustains them. We are invited as coworkers. There is redemptive, creative, compassionate, merciful, revelatory, and restorative work for us to partner with him in.

Check Your Mercy Levels

"Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6).

Mercy transforms ordinary moments into sacred ones.

The work in us and through us is good. It continues and is expected to be completed. God is not dependent on our involvement, but he chooses partnership.

"For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building." (1 Corinthians 3:9)

Tender mercy marks His work. You can easily identify when you have slid into your own agenda and empire construction because mercy is absent. When life-cherishing protective care and compassionate responses are missing, the equation has shifted to self.

Whatever business or activities you are engaged in, double-check the mercy levels. There is no performance in mercy because authentic compassion only overflows from one holy place.

Examine your work.

Build carefully.

Reflect accurately.

The blueprints and the construction work must match!
