DO HARD THINGS: Choices that determine everything else

Updated: Jan 12, 2023

Sometimes the hardest thing is to stay.

To refuse the inner voice that dominates the interior mind clamour and yells to take the next available exit.

To remain and choose an open heart.

To fight the unheard battle to just hold on.

Sometimes the hardest thing is to listen.

To close the mouth and shut down the need to be right. To hear another's unsaid needs and hurt. To choose their cry over your own.

Sometimes the hardest thing is to wait.

To have no answers. No direction. No clarity. No idea how to move forward. To sit in it all and not be rescued. To raise hope and expectation over the towering heights of disappointment and discouragement.

Sometimes the hardest thing is to take responsibility.

To choose humility even when the mistakes or faults are not your own. To accept judgement, criticism and unfair conclusions with grace. To forgive and forgive again and hold no grudging records.

Sometimes the hardest thing is continuing.

It is not the losing or failing but the daily choice to brave the journey while bleeding. To keep on living fully and love immeasurably without protective restraint. To limp and keep on limping forward.

Sometimes the hardest thing is acceptance.

Accepting change and adapting or conceding to the things that just cannot be changed. Defeat or victory, loss or triumph. The uncomfortable vast and lonely space inbetween.

Sometimes the hardest and weightiest things are seen and known only by the one who holds them all.

The unseen YES to hard things are counted!
