SHELTER: Safe in the Storms

One of my dear friends gave me a calendar almost 18 years ago of lighthouses with incredible photos capturing massive crashing waves.

This shot is my favourite! (Perhaps I have used it before to write and reflect on as it has encouraged me so much through life's chapters and changes!?)

Life has often felt like this....! An onslaught of waves....one after another in great force, their weight and breaking sound...relentless in measure and repetition.

At times the height and sheer power behind the surge has had me wanting to retreat and hide away.

BUT closing the door does not remove the tsunami threats. The vibrations are felt throughout the house and the breakers persist at our doorstep....

Yet somehow in this place of torrents and increasing waters I am discovering a rising grace to just stand.

Could it be I am safe while all rages around me?

A beautiful song has been on replay again today. The first time I heard it the tears poured down my face; not even fully comprehending the lyrics that I roughly translated with my limited tagalog.

It is called 'LILIM', which means 'shelter'! It stirs my heart each time I hear the beautiful simple truths; to seek after HIM as the only place of protection and safety.
