The Crooked Places

Dirty socks on the floor...(again), inches beside the laundry basket!
Dog barking incessantly at a passing cat, car or cockroach...
Sitting in deadlock traffic just metres from our turning.
Multiple requests for homework, revision and projects assistance.
Questions, questions.... endless questions....stuck on repeat!
A disappointing text message.
The unexpected mixed with the daily routine.
Ingredients of testing.
A recipie for character!
Pushing buttons and limits, resources and boundaries!
Of course I prefer an easier route!
Shortcuts for comfort.
Drivethrough simplicity,
Answers on the back page so I can sneak a quick look when I'm just not sure.
Am I content in the messiness or secretly complaining within?
Am I responding with kindness; gentle words and sensitivity or frustrated by the curveballs and limited progress?
As much as I may long for a straighter road, I grow most in these winding rugged lanes. I discover sharp lessons on the bends, and realise what needs attention and change.
They may be off the map or outside my own plan but these crooked places straighten out attitudes, perspectives, values and character, exposing the hidden and revealing the unrealised.
The fast-track is efficient and direct but I am lesser for a quicker journey...and miss an incredible view!
If I would just look up!

This road is incredible to drive on; miles and miles back and forth, up and down, covering great distance but making seemingly little movement towards the destination! 😊
