Struck But Not Destroyed

I keep walking past these trees in our village and can't stop marvelling each time at their TENACITY.

The blades have swiped savagely at their very existence, multiple blows lopping off branches, slicing growth & vitality hard; right down to a mere brown stump.

Yet the places where the sharpness reduced magnificent height to raw base, life still emerges.

Buds and green leaves pushing out of wounds inflicted. The cuts may be brutal, the onslaught relentless but the resistant roots still remain; holding strong beneath the surface of their assault.

Persistence is not defiance; these trees are not fighting, or choosing to endure, they naturally just keep growing and pushing forth regardless!

Struck down but not destroyed!

"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."

2 Corinthians 4: 8-9
