Shame is a Liar! Rewrite the Story

"DON'T BE ASHAMED OF YOUR STORY"

Someone I love wrote these words after overcoming some deep and challenging obstacles and fears.

I screen shot (and heart emojied ❤) her brave post in a salute of her courage. Finding her a voice to speak louder and magnify the truth!

Shame stops us from living fully.

Shame suffocates.

Shame squeezes out faith, hope, and love until they are dried out and gasping for air.

Shame reminds us continually of everything we failed to be.

Shame convinces us we are unworthy of belonging and the lies we absorb distort all reality perspective.

Shame magnifies the flaws so we stop believing that the changes we long for are available and within our reach.

Shame disconnects us from truth and people we lov. The very gifts we need and want in our lives.

The shameful messy parts of us; the things we cannot run from or hide from (although we try), the places we want to lock up and restrict and try to remove or cover up in our own strength are the very places we discover power.

Because after we have tried everything; it still isn't enough and never will be.

Time to stop trying in our own ways and understanding. Time to halt being disappointed because we couldnt make it happen.

Time to quit running, hiding, and losing

We really can't do it.

Reality is a secret friend not an enemy.

Face to face we are ready for an encounter with grace.

Grace that accepts the ruins and makes space for us to rise again.

Grace that takes our foolishness and failures and shattered attempts and rewrites the storyline.

No hiding.

No cover-up.

Just an outpoured double measure that turns the ugly into something greater.

We are humbled in the process of refining. Here we see the removal of all that hinders and holds us back.

It is a beautiful story rewrite that does not change the messes we made but weaves a higher purpose thread right through the middle.

We will never be able to boast because we really can do nothing. It is not for our glory or fame or another attempt to clean up the disaster road we built so we can travel back along it further.

No! It is a full, extravagant redemption.

Never be ashamed to let GOD hold the pen and turn it all around. We will never deserve it. That is not why he would ever choose to do it, but is His favourite work!

HE just loves restoration amd resurrection and beauty from the ashes. It is who He is and this is His greatest joy.

Shame is removed when we surrender our need to control and know the outcome.

Space for our story rights and entitlement dissolve when yielded and given over. When it becomes only HIS-story (history) rewritten HIS way!
